Dominique Blouin
1976/01/10
A few years after taking piano lessons, Dominique
Blouin plays his very first notes on bass. Even though he started
learning quite late, his passion for music made him concentrate
all his efforts and time on his newly discovered instrument for
which he developed a true passion. Not long after, he decided
to apply in a CÉGEP music program and spent the year preceding
his entrance practicing intensively his instrument and learning
the bases of music theory. His various musical influences make
him an eclectic artist. Dominique’s playing is certainly
influenced by many musicians coming from different spheres, such
as rock, funk and jazz, but KARCIUS’ most senior member
aims at creating his very own technique and original sound. Besides
his interest for writing, photography and cinema, his main occupation
still remains listening to and playing a wide array of music styles,
allowing him to feed his passion for the art of sound production.
Dominique’s personality is naturally calm but when on stage,
he becomes blindingly expressive and explosive.

Simon L’Espérance
1980/11/01
Music lover, Simon L’Espérance started playing guitar
at the age of 11. Throughout the years, his music has been greatly
influenced by Rock musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles,
Slash, and Steve Vai, as well as Jazz icons like John McLaughlin,
Chick Corea, John Scofield, John Coltrane and Pat Metheny. In
2005, he received his undergraduate degree from UQAM in Pop Music
and has acquired, since then, a comprehensive and solid training
in sound recording and album producing. As a sound engineer for
Studio Victor in Montreal since 2006, Simon has participated in
recording albums by renowned artists such as Karcius, Carl Bastien,
Jocelyn Tellier, Rick Ayworth, Daniel Bélanger, Gilles
Vigneault, Isablelle Boulay, André Lambert, Michel Donato,
and many others. Outstanding guitarist and naturally great stage
performer, Simon has a firm grasp of pop and jazz harmony concepts.
In the fall of 2007, Simon became a teacher’s assistant
and studio technician at Université du Québec à
Montréal. He is undoubtedly working his way up in the Montreal
musical scene, and besides playing with various other musicians,
Simon is currently working on putting together his own Jazz band
along with bass player and friend Carlo Birri. .

Mingan Sauriol
1982/09/12
For over ten years now, Mingan Sauriol has
never stopped surprising us with his great sense of creativity
and his incredible musicality. Son of pianist, he was exposed
to music at a very early age. It’s only at the age of 16
that Mingan definitively started to think about becoming a professional
musician, mainly influenced by masters such as Keith Emerson,
Chick Corea and Beethoven. Under the guidance of Lorraine Desmarais,
Mingan explores the subtleness of his instrument and learns the
language of Jazz. Around those years, interesting encounters happened
and Karcius was definitely created. Mingan is a very talented
composer and brings ardor and spontaneity to Karcius. Mingan continues
his University training in piano with François Bourassa.
